All the songs have vocals now. Still only scratch vocals. A few more rehearsals will be necessary to get everything polished.
I had 10 songs for the album but I wrote three more songs in March I really like so those songs will go on the album and one or two existing songs will be taken off. Right now it’s not yet decided how many songs there will be on the full album. Ten, eleven or twelve.
Three new songs means a lot more work yet to be done but the preproduction is finished and the guitars for one song are already recorded.
April 2, 2009 - 11:11 pm.
March was really the month of my life. I had a viral cold, a windpipe infection and the flu. I was one week healthy when I burned my finger, a third degree burn followed by another cold and bronchitis. Followed by a second degree burn and serious backpain kept me three days from sitting down.
There hasn’t been much singing and I don’t know how I did it but I did manage to write three new songs in March while I rewrote the vocals for one song. Two more to go.
March 19, 2009 - 10:27 pm.
I have been very sick for two weeks so no work has been done on the vocals. A chest infection always improves my voice as the constant coughing turns out excellent training of my breathing system. I can even reach beyond the f# now.
All the songs are produced and rehearsals for the final vocals will start tomorrow. A few songs need more work on the drums. On recording the two last songs I forgot to think about the right key for the vocals. The music sounds better the way it is now but the vocals will stand out more in a different key…Difficult decision.

The songs that were chosen included two songs that didn’t really fit the rest style wise. I couldn’t stop thinking about it knowing it would be a mistake to leave the two songs there. I should replace them and so I started writing and came up with a couple new songs over the weekend. One song is finished and another needs lyrics and vocals but both the songs are a perfect fit. I’m quite excited about those two songs that might turn out as the best songs on the album.

Since I never had a fixed band I wrote the songs without it. Rehearsals with the bass player will start next Monday and later a live drummer will be added too. The rough mixes sound pretty good to me and it’s all about finding the right mixing engineer now.
The vocals are going great so far and it all exceeds my highest expectations. I have a ton of ideas and I’m even working on the follow up for this record.
